everlast 4214 brown 1984 olympic edition

    Hi..all..

I'm new to the forum & my first post so here goes, i've been a boxing enthusiast, speed bag fanatic for years & came across the forum recently, the reason for my 1st post is i have in my posession (as the title suggests) a everlast 1984 brown leather olympic edition speed bag, i'm sure some of you on here are familiar with the model! (the one with the gold insignia) It's been in my family since i can remember & has NEVER been used all i have done to it recently is replace the bladder as the original one had deteriorated with time..i'm really hoping somone on here could help with giving me a little more history relating to this bag..it states on the bag 'official supplier 1984 olympic games' any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Thank you

Ah yes, the "Olympic" line. Everlast was chosen to be the official supplier of boxing equipment for the 1984 Summer Games. Production and sales of these bags commenced about 1982 as I recall (I purchased an Olympic 4210 at that time). The general line of speed bags, (along with the double end and heavy bags) had the Olympic emblem on them with the statement. It may have been done to the "pro" line of bags as well (4200,4202),my catalogs from that era are buried at them moment but I've try to verify this later. These bags were sold to the general public besides being furnished to the US Olympic teams, so there were a lot of them sold, pretty much up through the end of the 1980's as I recall. Once the agreement with the US Olympic Committee expired and the existing inventory depleted no more were made with the markings.

Thank you for the speedy reply, i appreciate you taking the time & the info you supplied is just what i was looking for, as i said in my previous comment the particular bag i have has never been used & has an original everlast swivel with it still in somewhat old & tattered packaging, the bag itself is just used for display purposes but knowing a little about the bags history surely helps!

Thank you again for your help in the matter

          Kindest regards

I just bought an Everlast Olympic 4200 along with the swivel with the offset hook. I should get it towards the end of this coming week.

Excellent...the swivel i have with mine is the 'old' chain-link type & that's branded around the top of the swivel with the everlast logo!
