Reebok adjustable platform help

Hello Guys,

I'm new here and even newer to speed bagging. Ive been trying to decide on what platform to purchase for my home use. It will be attached to concrete.

Today I bought the 'Reebok adjustable Speed ball platform'. Its 600mm diameter and 40mm thick.

Anyhow, It arrives tomorrow and im still unsure it was a wise purchase. The reason being because I searched the whole internet and only found this terrible picture below , which doesnt show the top brace (the most important part)

Fingers crossed its OK ... I'll post a few 'REAL' pics when it arrives in the morning, so at least anyone reading this will know what it looks like.

Ok ... its just arrived. Its one of the 'V' brace designs and feels like a solid piece of kit. Nice board, not as glossy as it appears in the photos. The swivel is already factory fitted.

I need some advice guys. Please.

Any tips on mounting this thing will be appreciated. Does the Swivel looks ok?

The instructions on this thing are terrible. I think i'll upgrade the bolts when I attach to the wall.

One thing I noticed, The 'plate' that attaches the brace to the board isnt a single flat piece of metal. Its two pieces of plate in parallel.(see instruction pic)
Only when this thing is on my wall can I tell if this effects its bounce.

Thanks Ralph. It does seem very solid and my initial apprehension has now gone.

I decided to use better bolts to attach the frame to the wall. The bolts I bought are called Anchor Bolts and they expand when pulled back.
The bolts they provided were good but they were of the rawl plug type. (pictured on right)

I will post a video of me hitting the thing, although I'm an absolute beginner and have really skinny arms. LOL

I have to find a bag tomorrow, I like the look of the Lonsdale Authentic Regular size but the shops may not stock it so may have to find something to use in the meanwhile.

Hi Mobby,
You're a lucky guy, the platform looks great, is that one that i want before i made my own platform...
For the bolts, i dislike the metal one, you need maybe stronger one that the one include with the platform but for my experience, plastique is much better than metal for everything who gives vibrations...
Please post a vid' once you hit on this beauty

You may have a point with regarding the plastic rawl plugs. I never considered they might handle vibration better.

Ive just finished putting up the frame. I did find the metal anchors work great. The problem I have found when using plastic plugs for other heavy stuff is that when you really tighten hard the bolt/screw can pull the plug out of the wall. ... I really super tightened these anchors and the whole thing feels secure.

Now to fix the drum on. ... Yes, I will take post a vid, although I can't stress enough I barely know what I'm doing. I hope to purchase the Speedbag bible and DVD and to listen to advice/comments from those that know more than me!

Wow that platform looks just like the Xmark platform I recently got. The design, paint type color and steel is the same. I wonder if the same manufacturer just rebrands it. Anyway, it should be a solid platform and perform great with little to no vibration.

...wow that frame looks strong, nice job man. hey just take your time getting the basics down for what type of hitting you want to do. btw i don't do the linking type of hitting or hit with the hammer fist or the thumb side of my hand. i have my own style of hitting suited more for fighting. but i do hit with my elbows...ralph

Cheers Ralph, it took a few hours to put up. It would have been easier with 2 people but I just about managed it. Appreciate the tips, I'll take my time learning the correct technique and not go all BruceLee just yet.

Thanks Sambruin. It does look like the Xmark, the last few days I looked at dozens of models. Amazon US say the 'Xmark's boxed weight is 58pounds and Amazon UK say the 'Reebok' is the same, so you are probably right about them being the same thing. ... The box it came in said it came from Poland and was made exclusively for 'escape-fitness'.

haha , I woke up 6.am(just now) to research where I can find a decent speedball this Morning. I'm itching like crazy to try it out. I'm in London, it can't be tooo difficult so fingers crossed. ..... Looking ahead, I think I'll also need a pump and sandbag.

This week I finally decided to try and get in shape, we'll see, lol.
Ive got a 'bulgarian bag' arriving later, maybe I can use that as the sandbag.
