About this forum and the people on it.

I have been a member on other forums (weightlifting mostly). And on the other forums people had attitudes, not willing to be helpful, they weren't friendly. I must say that with you people on here its a much more tight knit group. Maybe its because we all share the rare desease of SB addiction. And we are the only ones who can related with each other.....LOL.

Maybe it's the big silly grin the speed bag gives us that keeps people ultra friendly here.

Weightlifting, you? Never would have guessed it.

This is the only forum I've been involved with and yes, everyone is too cool.
I think it's because it's not about how fast and how powerful you can hit the bag; it's about learning all the advanced stuff. And it ain't easy for everyone.
Some people put in more time than others, some guys (and gals) hit it better than others that are twice the size, so size and strength are not an issue.
WE've got people from all walks of life, trying to make this bag of controlled chaos look smooth as it gets hit from all angles and elbows, knees, heads, in time to music, on a lifecycle, after spinning 360', etc...
Just when you think you've improved, someone else comes in and does something else....
It is just like this JOhn Bonham tribute I put together on 9.25.10. )30 years to the day that he passes. It was my idea to get a bunch of great drummers on stage with a band, pick their fave Zep song and play a replica John Bonham kit that was front and center. Well, 18 drummers played and some of them play with the biggest artists in the world (McCartney, Tool, Scorpions, Ac/DC, Chili Peppers, etc.... ) ..
Point is ... not one attitude to be found... we all got together to honor our hero, and to sit on his kit and play his songs instantly takes the ego and competitiveness away....
We were all playing in tribute, and we know none of do it as good as John Bonham...
Speed bagging is the same... we all learn from each other, and at the same time , we all enjoy watching each other get better. Speed bagging looks and sound cool, so you're instantly fixed on the person kicking butt.. just like a drummer....
      BAG ON...

            All i know

All I know is that where i live no one really understands why I and other would want to hit a speed bag for hours and hours... I say its fun and they say they can't see why so in my opinion we are an elite core of poeple who have found a love for something the average person will never understand (or wil they?) Bottum line spread the word cause speed baggin is the new black.

Personally I like the fact that nobody else does this stuff. I dont like being like the rest of the "masses". I seriously had no idea it would take so many hours and hours to "get it down". And once you think you start to get it you realize there is WAY MORE TO LEARN! I was watching disk 4 of the advanced SB bible set today and thought 'god i still got a whole lot to learn.' Most people are not patient. They would quit after a few trys and pick something else to do. I now understand the amount of time, focus, discipline, and FRUSTURATION involved in this. Its a never ending challenge! And unlike alot of things...this is done in the privacy of a basement, garage, etc. Nobody really gets to see what its about. So I am glad only a small amount of people do this.

This place is awesome period. Being a member and checking in daily is something I look forward to. Having met Alan and Brian face to face and sharing bag time (and a slice of pizza) ruled and talking with Tim on the phone was another great moment for me. Point is this has all been time well spent with great people.

I don't know entirely what the secret is, but I can tell you that Alan serves a role model and shining example of how everyone should treat their fellow man /woman. His undying dedication to spreading the speed bag and freely sharing his knowledge generously has served as inspiration for many here, myself especially. It may sound corny, but I've sometimes caught myself saying "What would Alan do?" ... not in speed bag situations but life in general. Dealing with others with fairness, openness, humility, etc. Alan has been a forum member since the earliest days as well as a mentor to me personally and definitely that has shaped the way this community has developed.

The speed bagging community here on the forum is the absolute best. Kudos to Tim for creating it, and to all the members for their continued contributions, critiques, and support.

And if you think this is great, meeting and bagging with other members takes it to another level. The local "hang-and-bangs", the regional gatherings, and the ultimate Speed BAG "Bag-In" just adds another dimension to the bagging experience.

If anyone has the opportunity to make it to a local or regional bag session, I say go for it. And if at all possible, start making plans for Speed BAG II. If this year's event is anything like last year's, you'll have bagging memories for a lifetime.

J.C, Yes, this is a forum of like minded individuals dedicated to the Bag and everything about the bag. Everyone shares that passion and enthusiasm. It's something in our makeup. Though we all may vary dramatically in backrounds etc., we're all very similar in many respects. You haven't lived, till you bagged! Bag On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                            Hi all.
This is a good place for me, to post 1. time. I agree in everything being said about SBF being a nice and friendly place. Unlike other (strength and conditioning) fora, this is really a swell place. Before signing up as a member, I read most of the posts in the last year or so. And not once, did I see any form of hostility and unwilling to help a fellow member of this board.

I look forward to be a part of this great subculture, and maybe get some help once in a while, as I´ve just started out baggin´. I watched some you guys´vids on Youtube, and was very fascinated. Along with this and some minor injuries in my arms from training advancednBW excercises, I deciced to invest in a bag and a swivel (both from Everlast). The platform I made myself.
After a week or so, it´s going great. Every day I can´t wait till I get home to practice on the speedbag. After half an hour my arms are like rubber, and I have to call it a day, but it feels great.

                            Cheers

Welcome to the forum, baggins. You won't find a friendlier forum anywhere. Everyone is supportive and always willing to help other members. Look forward to your contributions and good luck in your speed bagging journey. Sounds like you have the addiction already.
