I was at a new/used/trade sports shop today and found an everlast all metal ballhook today! Thing looks like its barely been used. I guess its the one that the all plastic replaced. Question.....which is preffered? (Metal ball-plastic housing), (Metal housing-plastic ball), or leave it all metal-metal?

I'm a risk taker, I run all metal, but for one reason or another i've never gotten anything SERIOUS in my eye. I have some minor irritation though. -

I think the main difference is the noise level. The all metal is gonna make a louder noise than the all plastic, but some people like that.
The all plastic is slower than the all metal but by swapping it with the metal ball it becomes a little faster and smoother.
I've never tried the plastic ball in the metal housing, but the notion begins to interest me. I'd imagine it would be slightly quieter taking out that grinding noise of the ball and no clunking when you miss hit. The ball would probably wear quicker.

I use to have that trouble too. They do make a wider 'S' hook for the plastic model I think, It's just a matter of swaping them over.
By the way you may just wanna check the length of the eye bolt in the all metal BH swivel, you may have room to jack it up into the ball a bit further to shorten the swing arc. You will need an allen key for this.sigpic'IRON HORSE, LIVE TO RIDE'Comment

the plastic ball in the metal housing is not any good. the plastic ball scores and starts to grind away. i even honed out my metal housing before hand to get a "smooth" action. well its not "smooth"....lolComment

Skunk had 2 different swiv setups that he modified. One was an old everlast chain/link housing (which was low profile-space between board and where the ball seats is shallow). Anyway he shaved the plastic ball down on "top" so it had room.
The second swiv he made from an everlast "U" bolt. The housing is narrower and hangs down low. For this Skunk had to shave down the plastic ball so its diameter fit into the housing. Also he used a "carbiner (or whatever those mountain climbing clips are called) instead of a hook. I hit them both in NJ. They seemed to work fine. Skunk would be able to tell you about "floating" etc. since he's hit them way more than myself.
