    More practice

I had just enough time to put these together before work last night. I copied some of what Alan was instructing me to do and tacked it to the wall so I could glance and try the techniques.

(Baggist...I was typing when you posted and we both started with the same opening quote...haha...so I highlighted my comment, deleted the message, quoted yours and then added mine back...)

Metaldad, it's all coming together! The key is taking it slow! When I first started, I remember reading from the Skunk and Alan Kahn how important it is to practice slowly. With other stuff, (musical instruments, other sports involving speed) it seems to sink in quicker. But, with the speed bag, and the simple fact that when most of first see it in action, it's being hit by Rocky or a boxer at an incredible rate. We instantly think that if you keep hitting it hard it will stay in line and go fast!(I mean, it is called the speed bag!)
Most people, upon their first punch, (also, it is punching...who practices punching lightly?..haha...) start pounding and flailing, well, really just flailing with an occasional punch connected. Their hands look like 2 fishes out of water!
The speedbag is so elusive upon new comers. Me too. I thought that being a drummer would instantly make me be able to get the thing flying. I was so wrong.
So Metaldad, I can see where you will be in a month. You are going for advanced combos with a full understanding of the bag. It is going to fun to watch you incorporate all this practice into a flurry of Metaldad Mayhem!
          BAG ON!

Youre right about slowing down Brian. I see Alan and Skunk, You and Scissorhands and so many others making it look so easy that I just wanna be in there wailin' away. but just like playing guitar, you gotta go slow at first then work your way up(probably why after 20 years I still can't play lead lol). I also hear SOOOOO many tunes in my head that would sound great with speed bag. I'm even making up beats along with the songs as I listen on my mp3 player. I have to keep reminding myself: patience, practice! But man you guys make it look so darn easy!!Thanks Brian, soon Metaldad's Mayhemic Metal Militance shall March Maliciously in Mississippi, Montana and Missouri, and Maybe Massachussetts Maine or Madrid or Morocco.......ok someone shoot me!!
