Yesterday I received a letter from the MTS telling me to show up at their headquarters for a preliminary orientation and testing on Monday morning. The first step on the way back on the road (I hope!)

Long history of railroaders in my family, along with the transit industry. It's that karma thing ,again...... Besides like you say it's not my dream job but if I get it , it will definitely help the financial situation. My last job paid only 2/3rd's of the one that I held for twenty-five years did when it abruptly disappeared.Last edited by Dutchman; 12-26-2010, 08:29 PM.

The orientation went pretty good. There were fifteen persons there. The person from HR told us that we were what was left from a stack of 1500, so that alone made me feel pretty good. They are looking to fill six to eight driver postions. The test today was primarily a psychological one, as a transit driver has to put up with a helava lot of crap. Don't know how I did, guess I'll find out on the Thursday when the callbacks are made.
I had also applied for the trolley operator position. HR said that it is very, very likely that I'm on that list too, and even if I don't make the driver cut off I would still be called in for the trolley job (which I would really prefer anyway if I had a choice) as the test I took today isn't required for that position.Trolley ops do not have direct contact with the public.
