1. Use the Forward Circle Punch (FCP) and linking to establish a base rhythm that is simple.
2. When the instrumental section goes into either the rap or vocal parts, try to mimic the articulation of each word in sync with the speed bag. This is to provide more snap to each sung/spoken word. Most of the combinations I use here are strings of low-power but chainable techniques, like little bitty Legos. Or a patchwork quilt with very small squares. This forces me to use techniques with only a single rebound in between each hit. Delicacy and precision are key here to match the cadence of the vocal lines.
3. Use spins/traps to reset the rhythm of the song. I try to intersperse these in sync with the natural stopping points within the song.
For #2, I use a combination of compact fist rolls, phantom punch-based O-TES hits, and elbow dribbling to produce those echo patterns that allow me to maintain a consistent rebound sound while allowing me to flow into different parts of my body orientation for expression.
