Hey, I'm 46 dude! It all depends on how much time in service you had prior to getting out. The cutoff age is now 35, but for prior service, they subtract your time in service from your age to determine if you're eligible. Mine comes in at 31 so I'm still good to go.
I really don't know what's happening right now, I took my physical a week ago and am expecting results at any time. The only difference this time around is that I'm getting into the Air Guard and I was previously Army. I was always jealous of the housing and meals the guys in blue had, so I'm giving it a shot. I'm trying to become a C130 Loadmaster so hopefully my days of crawling and sleeping in the dirt are over. That was fun when I was in my 20's and 30's, but at age 46 it's not as attractive especially when I can get the same retirement for spending the majority of my time flying instead of being out in the field on an artillery firing line.
Glad you're doing better. Surgery on any joint/body part sucks. I hope The Guard works out. I've been considering re-enlistment myself, I haven't told my wife and I don't think anyone will take me at 42. I hope you'll be sticking around the forum. How far is Bloomington from Lasalle? I work for Con-way freight now and I'm always getting sent to the Lasalle re-ship terminal off route 6. I'm there just about every night.
Chris! Where ya been!? So much has been goin' on lately! I've been posting video and got meet Alan, Spins, hit in the speedbag truck and check out Foreigner. You would have had a blast! Hope everything is ok!
I used a bandsaw, but you could just as easily use a jigsaw. When you get done cutting it out, don't worry if it's not nice and perfect, take a sander with about 100 grit paper on it and smooth it out so it's nice and round. If you want to put a nice finishing touch on it, take a router with a 1/4" roundover bit and smooth out those edges. Then you're ready to put a finish on it. You may want to hit the whole board with a sander with 100 grit really well, then go up to 220 and you'll be set.
hey chris, i was just wondering how u cut such a perfect circle when you made your speed bag drum? i cant find the pre cut circles at any hardware stores around me. So i was wondering how you made yours so i can just buy some wood and make something similar.
