1940's A.G. Spalding Pro Platform

That's cool... the only other one I've ever seen. Looks like it's missing the original wood from the top & bottom brackets...and seems the drum has been replaced, but it does have all three of the diagonal supports (mine only has the main center one)...broken adjustment handle/lock.

$400 starting bid.... I guess I was REALLY lucky to get mine for $60.00.

I have a very similar set that I'm in the process of intergrating onto a multi station rigging. one of the two arms of mine has broken cast piece but I have a plan to tie it together with some extra steel, but would be cool to find spare part to replace. one other difference I nocticed is mine has a couple extra support bars.

Moline Disc

Hey Zaza! I was always curious if these were actually produced in Moline IL? Where does the name "Moline Disc" come from? I live about 30 minutes from the Quad Cities, Moline. Just can't find much info beyond the name.

Frankly, I think that Moline was the name of the person that designed this style of platform, and not having to do with a city with that name (and there are several Moline's in the US).

LOL, I know right!? Moline IL is the prominent Moline in the USA, 42,000 plus, one of the 5 quad cities (I know it should be called the Quint Cities...) I was just curious the origin of "Moline" as in the name of the platform. John Deere is the big manufacturer in Moline, has been since back when the A.G. Spalding platform was produced, who knows, maybe they were cast somewhere in Moline IL, maybe the inventor last name was Moline. I did search the US Patents site come up empty
