Any other ladies out there using Speed Bag?

I recently joined a new fitness club and they have 2 nice speed bag set ups. So I started dinking around with them and one guy who is really good came over and showed me a few things.....and now...
The bug has bit! I love hitting the speed bag as part of my regular workout routine and am now looking for tips and videos. Just watched a few on this forum, read and printed out some info from this website.
So just wondering if there are any other ladies out there doing speed bag as a fitness routine and what is working for you?

question...i've been hitting with just bare hands, should i be wearing a glove? I think my son has some lite kick boxing gloves with exposed fingers, will that work?

Like I said, I love hitting that speed bag, it like hypnotizes me! So what is a good fitness routine I can put together using the speed bag and developing proficiency with it?

    Thanks!

    Hey baglady! Great member name!

I'm a new bagger as well! Use described the bag in a great way. You said it hypnotizes you. Yes, when I saw Alan Kahn and Speed Bag Skunk, it left me dumbfounded and hypnotized! It's been 3 months since I started and now that I'm better, I'm even more into it knowing the potential is there! Welcome!
    KEEP ON BAGGIN'!
Oh, your post poses the question about other ladies out there baggin'. Well, I'm not one of them, but you should youtube Stacey "stayLo" Reile. Her speed and precision on the bag is pretty badass. The clip is below.....

Welcome. Pretty neat that your gym has a couple of speed bags, that's a rare find. Is it a boxing gym? (in which case it's not so rare).

If I recall, we have two other ladies who post, but very infrequently.

Any type of light weight glove that covers your knuckles will work fine. Personally, I also punch bare handed, I don't like wearing bulky gloves.

So what is a good fitness routine I can put together using the speed bag and developing proficiency with it?
Hitting a large bag will give a good work out, as it takes quite a bit of force to get it moving and keep it moving. That is also a good way to start learning the various strikes (elbows etc.). I suggest 10x7 size. Also be sure to check out http://www.speedbagcentral.com.

        Hey Baglady,

I know "Speedbag4life" is a lady who is awesome on the speed bag. No video's of her yet, but I can attest to her abilities. She drifts in an out of the forum.

Like Tim, I prefer to hit barehanded, and many fitness types gloves have troublesome seams over the contact areas of the fist. They won't bother you for a while, but in a workout featuring perhaps several hundred punches, you will start to notice them. When I wear gloves, I use the harbinger classic's because there are no seams directly on the contact areas of my fist, and the soft leather takes the bag pretty well. You will see them in this video.

Here is a listing of some focused speed bag workouts for stength, speed etc.
