  • Punch Drumming (tm) on Fox network

Last week I was contacted by a FOX TV producer for the RedEye w/ Greg Gutfeld show, asking permission to show a part of my clip "the Rhythm is going to get you". I was notified yesterday that it would be shown tonight during a special edition of the show (RedEye is usually on at 3am est, but they've been doing several "special editions" in early time slots, probably to check ratings..)

anyway, during the show they often show :08-:20 seconds of two or three offbeat funny or unusual clips as transitions to other subjects. Tonight they did show about 5-8 seconds of my clip.

They didn't say anything about it, just showed the footage and sound. They post full episodes of the show on their site, so at some point it will be viewable.

Funny thing, in NYC all the "human trick" people had to fill out a W-2 and union dispensation form. Those that made the show got $432.00 for on-air appearance. If you make three appearances on NYC media in a year you have to join the local.

Well, it was all of 14 seconds or so. Not much really. Here are a few screen captures.

Here is a link to the Episode of RedEye on Fox, March 2, 2013 , which was recently put online.

Zip to 13:38 or so, and watch for about 32 seconds. I wasn't sure why they used that or chose that section of the song. ??

The comment is one that unfortunately I expected, as these people just don't get it. We can be thankful, however, that there are people out there that do.

                  WTF?
I guess I shouldn't be surprized, this is exactly what I would expect from FOX News...

I watched a few of the other RedEye Shows on their site after the show's producer contacted me and asked for permission to show part of that clip. Every episode has 3-5 funny or wierd video clips (usually with animals..) and Greg, and sometimes the panel members makes some sarcastic cut or reference to it. That is how they roll on that show so I expect as much.

It is possible to comment on their shows (redeye@foxnews.com), so if the speedbag world were to somehow make mention of the speed bag footage shown on the show March 2, perhaps they might consider more. Their producer seemed pretty fascinated by it (or it was trending at the time...who knows) and you never know what a little flattery or recognition will get you.

Something about catching flies comes to mind here....
