Nice, leather looks very good. Inflation tube under the laces, and it appears not to be a pear shaped bag as well. Not too many of these floating around. Round single end striking bags were pretty much out of production by the 1920's, replaced by the pear shaped ones.
This bag was made for Alex Taylor & Company, which was at one time one of the the major sporting goods stores in New York City. It like most of the independent outlets succumbed to the onset of the large chains.

            or a grandpa swivel.

The flange edge of the housing does not look all beat down or flared out, indicating wear. I think that is the actual design of it.

It would be interesting to examine both. I haven't seen a round bag like that in this good of condition. The ones I have seen were seriously deteriorated.

So how well would a swivel like that work since it just has a hook and no eye out of the ball??

The bags of that era (like the one that it's being sold with) had very large loops, and that acted like the second link in the more modern swivels.

FYI.... I'm going to try to get this for the film, but can only go so high. Please don't bid against me, or if you do, I'd like to get the stuff for some pictures.

                    Thank you... Za.

I'm glad you mentioned this as I was thinking about bidding on it. I'll just watch it. Hope you get it.

No go... too bad, would have been nice for the film.

                          ....oh...and eBay sucks!

Yeah I've lost a lot of them on there. The sniping programs really give an unfair advantage to those that use them. Frankly I say that either everyone uses them or no one does. BTW I about went nuts when I saw what the final bid was

The sniping programs force everyone else to 'bid' their absolute highest from the get go. eBay is not an auction, where you get caught up in the feverish foolishness of the moment and overbid wildly. On Yahoo Auctions Japan, a bid at the last second extends the bidding another 5 minutes to let your competition answer. eBay could easily go that route but hasn't.
