" more vids - deville swivel arrived - trying it out

Well I had tons of takes on this and by the time I did something worth showing I was starting to tire a bit! That's my excuse anyway! LOL

was interrupted by alarms - phone, door you name it everything conspired against me today.

the Deville swivel is quite quiet and has a certain kind of sound to it - a pleasing kind of clunkety clinking noise much more pleasing to the ear than the equivalent metal on metal of my all metal ball hook. Very nice and very slippery.

So....I have had a few Title bags here for a week or so courtesy of Alan (thanks again for arranging that for me!) and I have to admit I am having a tough time getting accustomed to them. Out of the two the smaller yellow 8x5 is by far the favourate of the pair - I am finding it much easier to control compared to its sibling probably due to my short arm length. But I have to admit it is not as consistent as I would like it to be.

During use it seems to slow down or speed up seemingly of its own accord and I have found for me at least the air pressure needs to be between 3-4 psi. 4 and above and it's akin to hitting a rock and really difficult to control -- but 3-3.5 and it behaves like a totaly different animal!!

I do find though that I am constantly having to adjust the speed/power of the hit when I sense the bag slowing or speeding up. Not quite sure why this appears to be happening, but compared to the Lonsdale which is silky smooth and really consistent for me it can be a challenge.

I'm hoping as the Deville AND the bag settles in it should eventually get better and easier to use as I certainly don't want to give up on it just yet! But it is lagging behind the Lonsdale for the time being in the favouratism stakes presently.

Another curious phenomenon I have noticed Is that when I try to punchdrum in time to music my technique apparently goes totally to pot and my combinations fail totally! Must be my brain trying to keep pace with the beat tempo etc.....

    Good Job.

You have some good bags too.

If you need to get a lot more speed out of the yellow Title 5x8 you could throw one of these orange bladders in it.

    Nice white swivel! A-51

      Nice!

Nice first effort, Darth! It's not easy getting everything to cooperate – music, speed ball, positioning, swivel... your elbows.

It's great to see another punch drummer come along. Do you usually workout to music? Do you play a musical instrument?

Good job keeping the elbows up for the most part. It's important in order to keep up with the beat.

I love the Lonsdale Peanut. It has such a nice shape and look – very classy bag, imo. A few other members have that speed ball. Mrs. Mitts (who has been absent from the forum for the past several months) does some impressive punching on it.

I'm assuming that it is a little heavier than the Title speed bags. Maybe this is why you are having trouble with the speed of the bag being inconsistent. Maybe it's muscle-memory related. You've been used to punching exclusively on it and it might take a little practice on the other bags before you find their "sweet spots" and adjust your timing and muscle power.

I love that song in the first video. Which causes me to bid adieu for now. You've inspired me to run out to the woodshed and make some bag music!

      Bag on!

Really impressive Darth! You got there pretty quickly. Good music too.
Another really nice setup! That peanut bag gots style.
        Keep going!

I always workout to music if possible Dee - I tend to bag for about 3-4 songs then have a break and repeat that for approx 45-50 mins total bag time - about 3-4 times a week in between weights days I find baggin a great maintenance exercise for all upper body muscles.

I don't know if I would be a good musician as its something I've never actually tried! LOL But I think I have a good ear for music though..

It was difficult to see in that vid but I managed to keep my elbows up for the duration this time.

It was Mrs. Mitts youtube review of it that finally persuaded me to purchase one after a string of cheaper mishapen ones. It's a pricey bag but so far for me at least worth every penny. I was given a cheaper red/black 10x7 that they do for my birthday and it also have the same bounce characteristics as the peanut. Lonsdale have got their bag making sorted for the time being.

Lonsdale recommend 10 PSI pressure on their bags but I found very quickly that 4-5 PSI was excellent for bible style punching.

I just weighed them and the results were surprising:
          • Title yellow 8x5: 175g
          • Title red 9x6: 196g
          • Lonsdale peanut: 160g

I think it's just a case of bedding the title bags in and finding that right mix of pressure and muscle memory to operate them consistently - I give each of them a full workout each week and will do so for a month or two before I finally decide whether they're gonna get retired until either I'm more proficient or they draw a pension! LOL

Well when Alan arranged the shippng for me I went ahead and got two of the bladders and the first thing I did after a quick inflation punch test was to replace both bags bladders with those one - so it already has that bladder in it - it was much slower with the origional rubber bladder - I noticed that immediately.

What pressure do you inflate yours to? I think it's a case of finding that sweet spot of pressure.

ebozyn: When i changed out the original black bladder in one of my Title standard pro bags (a red 6x9) with the orange bladder, It was so obvious, i new the speed had increased greatly the first time i struck the bag. It came off the board so much faster i had to adjust my punch timing to accommodate the increased speed.

I haven't tried a lonsdale bag yet, but they must make a very well balanced bag. (do they make a 5x8 Lonsdale Peanut Bag?) Of the bags that i have, the most well balanced ones are the Fighting Sports Pro 5x8 and 6x9. And the Title Standard Pro 5x8 and 6x9.
